Guelph Police issued the following release late afternoon on Tuesday:
"On Sept. 8, 2017, the Guelph Police Service commenced an investigation into allegations against a 49-year-old Guelph teacher in relation to sexual offences involving a youth. On Sept. 11, 2017, Brian Hathway, was arrested and charged by the Guelph Police Service for Sexual Assault, Sexual Exploitation and Obtain Sexual Services for Consideration – Under 18. Brian Hathway is a teacher employed with the Upper Grand District School Board and taught at a local high school since 2003.
